Our boys from Keris Movements, Keris, joined 12 other groups in the Mega Perdana 2010 - Finals, last Saturday at the Mediacorp TV Theater. It was the first time after many years that 12 groups, instead of the normal 8, participated in the finals due to the new system of separating the girls and boys categories in the qualification and semi-final stages.
Although the boys did not maintain their previous 2nd position nor claimed any top 3 spots in the Mega Perdana stage this time round, they still managed to get 3rd best in the 'Best Awok-awok' category and also claimed the 'Best Artistic Performance' category.
"Alhamdulillah, we manage to come back with something. To be honest,we were very shocked with the results of us getting the 'Kesenian Terbaik' award and getting 3rd in the 'Awok-awok Terbaik' category. But we are thankful to Allah, to the judges, the fans and the audiences for the support and everything else. These things that we got today will only help us to motivate ourselves even more and make ourselves even better," claimed team member, Isa.
Piala KGMS 2009 champion, Yenbo Je, won the competition and also claimed the 'Best Awok-awok' award. Meanwhile, defending champion, Kelana Purba, went second best and claimed the 'Best Percussionist' award along with it. Third in position for that day was Andika, who also claimed the 'Best Tukang Karut' award for Isa (Andika).
